Welcome

New Year message from the Presidentroger2

Dear SRHSB members and friends, first we wish you all a peaceful and enjoyable New Year! The last year has been a busy one for the Society. The Nottingham meeting was highly successful, and we are looking forward to another successful meeting next year. The 56th Annual Scientific Meeting of the Society will be held in York, UK on 25-28 July 2012. The venue will be the University of York, a relatively young British University but now ranked in the top 10 academically.Once again all facilities including accommodation will be available all on site, and registration and booking of accommodation (single and double, both en suite) will be easy and uncomplicated. The Scientific Programme will once again include two pre-meetings on Wednesday morning: Experimental Hydrocephalus, convened by Hazel Jones, and Clinical Case Reports, convened by Mark Luciano (please see separate notice for abstract submission etc). These pre-meetings are highly regarded and we urge you to attend one of them, at no extra cost other than one night's accommodation. For the main meeting we are inviting eminent Special Lecturers, but the Scientific Programme depends on you, as it consists of submitted abstracts chosen the Executive Committee with advice from an Abstracts College (as last year). It is therefore important that you and your colleagues submit your abstracts (deadline February 24th). More details of the structure of the Scientific Programme will be posted on the Society's website as it develops. As usual, after the Pre-meetings on Wednesday, there will be the Society's Annual General Meeting followed by a reception in the evening. After the scientific sessions on Thursday morning, the afternoon will be devoted to social activities including a boat trip. Friday is always a full working day, followed by the Annual Dinner. Finally, further scientific sessions will be held on Saturday morning.

York enjoys good mainline rail connections with London, Edinburgh and Manchester, and further travel details will be posted on the SRHSB website. There are air connections from these airports to destinations worldwide. York is an ideal base from which to explore the North of England and Scotland.
